Need help when you're having a down day. Try creating a Kudos File. Then when you get discouraged you can pull it out and look at all of the great things that you've done.
Create a Bliss List
This is a list of all of the things that make you feel blissful and that cost nothing. When you're feeling a little down picking an item off of this list is a great pick me up.
Your bliss list might include things like going fo a walk, or baking cookies and taking them to school the next day. Maybe it's even playing with a favourite pet. What's important is that it's full of things that you love to do!
Create a List of your Positive Qualities
Start by writing down 5 things that you like about yourself. And every week try and add one thing to that list until you get to fifty. Once you've reached fifty things add to your list whenever you think of something new.
Reading this list can be a real pick-me up. It reminds of what's important to me and what's great about me. I like reviewing it before interviews and exams, for that little confidence boost. It makes me feel unstoppable.
If you need some help getting started you can ask friends and family what they like about you, and start from there. They may jog your memory, or get you started down a path where you'll discover all sorts of things that you like about yourself.
Document your Life Successes and Goals
Starting from when you were a baby list all of your accomplishments. This can be learning to walk or getting 100% on a math test.
Then write-out one thing that you want to accomplish in the next year. After you've set your goal for the next year, decide what you want to accomplish in the next five years and then the next ten years. This list of goals will help you to keep focused, but make sure that you look at it every once and a while so that you can update it. You may want to change from getting an Electrical Engineering Degree to getting a Computer Science and an Electrical Engineering Degree.
The great thing about this is that you get to add your goal onto your list of accomplishments at the end of the year.
Save all of the Nice Notes you Receive
Save every nice note that you receive. Thank you notes, cards, even a little message written on an exam. That way you can pull these out when you're feeling down and remember that you are a great person, even if the exam or interview didn't go so well.
I also like to write down complements that people say to me.
